The Spiritual Guardian of Darul Uloom Anware Raza Navsari Gujarat India
Ashraful Fuqaha Hazrat Allama Mufti Mujeeb Ashraf (1937-2020) (May Allah bestow His bounties upon him!) was one of the most prominent Islamic scholars, authors, poets, preachers, and Allah-fearing ones. He was so dedicative to serving the true religion, Islam, that even in his mid 80s he left no stones unturned and kept on doing the same until his last breath. The way he spent his whole life is a great example for the generation to come. He did lots of good deeds which made a number of people love him and remember him with love and warm feelings forever.
Early Life:
Ashraful Fuqaha son of Haji Sufi Mohammad Hasan son of Hafiz Jameeullah was born on 2 Rmadhan, 1356 AH falling on Nov 6, 1937 AD Saturday morning in the area Kareemuddinpur at Ghosi town, Azamgarh U. P. to a very reputed and learned family. Ashraful Fuqaha read the Holy Qur’an to a pious man, Hazrat Miyan Ji Mohammad Taqi. Later, he was enrolled in Madarsa Ahle Sunnat Shamsul Uloom, Ghosi where he studied Arabic and Persian books. He studied in the said Madarsa under the watchful eyes of Sharahe Bukhari Hazrat Allama Mufti Shareefulhaq Amjadi. And in 1951, when Sharhae Bukhari came to Darul Uloom Fazle Rahmaniya, Pachpedwa, Balrampur (then Gonda) UP, he accompanied him and studied there for two years and after 2 years in 1953, he came to Darul Uloom Mazhare Islam, Bareilly, the center of Ahle Sunnah wa Jama’ah in India. He kept on attaining Islamic knowledge with full dedication and fervor and graduated in 1957 from the same madarsa.
Maulana Gulam Mustafa Razvi, the founder of Darul Uloom Anware Raza, Navsari Gujarat describes a fact that shows his immense pride and love of Allama Sharahe Bukhari to Ashraful Fuqaha. In 1993, during the Urse-Qasmi, Sharahe Bukhari introduced the venerated person Ahsanul Ulema, Hazrat Maulana Sayed Hassan Miyan, then Sajjadah Nasheen of Khanqahe Aliyah, Barkatiyah Marehra Mutahhara, Etah UP saying, “ This is my pupil Mujeeb Ashraf. On the Day of Judgment, if Allah Subhananu Ta’ala asks me what I have brought from this world, I’ll proudly present Mujeeb Ashraf in HIS Court.” So saying, he became very emotional and his eyes filled with tears.
His Spirituality:
He took bai’at(بیعت) )at the blessed hands of Mufti Azam Hind Hazrat Allama Mustafa Raza Khan (May Allah bestow His bounties upon him!) on 24th Safar 1375 AH, falling on October 12th , 1955 in Bareilly. After completing his education in 1957 He was sent to Nagpur by his Peer o Murshid Huzur Mufti e Azam e Hind & Teacher Sharhe Bukhari along with Allama Sibtain Raza Khan Alaihir Rahma (Rector- Jamia Arabia Islamia). He followed the words of his Murshid in such a way that he made Nagpur his homeland. Once,Mufti Azam Hind visited Nagpur to preach Islam and spread spirituality in 1380/1960. He himself (no desire was shown by Ashraful Fuqaha) granted him all the Khilafah and Spiritual permission of Qadriya, Barkatiyah and Razviyah orders in the presence of many venerable scholars and a countless number of common people. Along with that, Sharhe Bukhari blessed him with fourteen other orders.

His Services: Mufti Abdurrasheed Fatehpuri asked Mufti Azam Hind and Sharahe Bukhari for a capable teacher who could be appointed as vice-Shaikul Hadith (i.e. a teacher who teaches Hadith books of high level) in his renowned madarsa Jamia Arabia Islamia Nagpur. Both of them chose Hazrat Mufti Mujeeb Ashraf. When he reached Nagpur, Mufti Abdurrasheed Fatehpuri appointed him as a principal in Kamti, another branch of the madarsa, in 1958 because of his young age. He taught there for two years, He also served as Imam in a Memon mosque in Nagpur. In 1960 Mufti AbdurRasheed acknowledged his eligibility and appointed him as Shaikhul Hadith in his own madarsa (Jamia Arabia Islamia Nagpur). He, there, quenched the students’ thirst for education until five years (1965) whole heartedly. Mufti Mujeeb Ashraf led the foundation stone of Darul Uloom Amjadia, Nagpur under the auspices of Mufti Azam Hind and Burhane Millat Allama Burhanul Haq Jabalpuri and continued teaching in that madarsa. He would teach the students any books of Darse Nizami, but was fond of Tafseer, Usoole Tafseer, Hadith, Usoole Hadith, Fiqah, Usoole Fiqah and Arabic literature. Due to his numerous travels and programs in the country and abroad as well, he did not find sufficient time for writing. However, he could manage to compile some books like Tahsinul Eyadah, (virtue of visiting a patient), Huzoor Mufti Azam Paikare Isteqamat wa Karamat, Khutbate Colombo, Irshadul Murshid Yaani Bai’at Ki Haqiqat, Masaile Sajda Sahw etc. and there are a few books yet to be published. Along with these, there are a number of Fatawas written by Ashraful Fuqaha found in the Madarsa’s register. Beside these, he also composed a lot of poetry about the love of the beloved Prophet (Peace and salutation be upon him!) and other distinguished Islamic personalities. Marriage and Offspring: In 1952 He got married with his maternal uncle Hazrat Maulana Ghulam Yazdani’s elder daughter Mohtrama Azeeza Bano, they were blessed with two sons and three daughters. By the will of the Almighty, she passed away in 1971. He later married Mohtrama Najmunnisa in 1972. He had no offsprings from her. |

Hajj: We can imagine how fortunate he was as he performed Hajj 32 times in his life since 1984 and Umra many times. This Demise: He was in Nagpur when he fell ill and was admitted to a hospital. He took his last breath on 15 ZulHajj, 1441 AH, falling on August 6th , 2020, Thursday morning at 10:30. His funeral prayer was performed several times due to restriction of gathering amid Covid-19 and finally, near 12 o’clock at night by his son Hazrat Hafiz Qari Maulana Tahseen Raza, and was laid to rest in Mominpura, Nagour. Every step taken by him is worth following. Darul Uloom Anware Raza, Navsari Gujrat was very dear to him specifically his beloved successor Azeez ul Ulama Maulana Gulam Mustafa Barkati Razvi. He had always been with him and observed his piety behaviours and fear of Allah. May Allah bless him with a higher class of paradise and forgive us without accountability for his sake. Ameen |
